When Angels Fall

The Seer looked at me across the table and said, "...and it will never be the same. Friendly, but distant. Courteous and polite, but no more".

I nodded, knowing in my heart that what she said was the truth of the future. I had already felt it, I just needed someone to say it to me.

"And Gabrielle...you need to say that it was not ok. In some sort of public way. Actions must be accounted for."

I stared at her. "I can't do that! You don't understand...there is no way..." My words trailed off as I tried to wrap my brain around the truly impossible task she had just set before me.

"It does not need to be literal Gabrielle. It can be an allegory, a fable. Something symbolic that you can speak to the Universe. The Goddess wants your voice heard."

I sat for a moment and opened my mind and heart. I would know the answer when it came.

The Seer smiled at me. The answer came.

"I know what to do.", I told her. "Good.", she said.

I wrapped my cloak around me tightly as I closed the door of the Seer's cottage. The bitter wind stung my cheeks as I cast my eyes to the gray sky. Winter seemed to have just landed on us all at once. I started to walk towards the train station to catch the train home to Carntaigh. My feet hit the stones in a rhythmic beat...and the music began to play...

Emilie Autumn - Chambermaid

Show your face
Don't hide
Take off the mask now
Underneath is a deep dark secret
Take me for a ride
Upon your white horse
Take your love
'Cause I don't want to keep it

I am out of place
And honey you are out of Time
I'd tell your fortune
But the words don't rhyme

I'm not your chambermaid
You're not my lord
All the fine games we played
Have left me bored
I never want to see you come around my castle
'Cause I just can't afford to love you
I'm not your chambermaid
You're not my lord

Tell me what I have to do to make you
Understand it's a lost cause lover
Tell me while you're at it how it feels to
Hold me close when you've been thinking of her
I don't want to hear you say you love me
You've been gone such a long time
Won't you turn around
Before I have to see this
Face I once adored
Don't you see

I am out of place
And honey you are out of Time
I'd tell your fortune
But the words don't rhyme

I'm not your chambermaid
You're not my lord
All the fine games we played
Have left me bored
I never want to see you come around my castle
'Cause I just can't afford to love you
I'm not your chambermaid
You're not my lord

You have no hold over me
What's in your cards now let me see
I hope you've got what you wanted
There's just one thing I know will never be

I'm not your chambermaid
You're not my lord
All the fine games we played
Have left me bored
I never want to see you come around my castle
'Cause I just can't afford to love you
I'm not your chambermaid
You're not my lord
