This week marked the 71st anniversary of the release of the iconic 1939 movie "The Wizard of Oz".  Today's program on Radio Riel's Main stream is all music that is somehow connected to The Wizard of Oz, from the original soundtrack of the movie, to a 1998 Broadway revival, to the soundtrack to the musical "Wicked", to music from Judy Garland, to the songs that were at the top of the Hit Parade in 1939, and more!

As a part of today's tribute, we are featuring the 1950 Lux Radio Play of The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland.  The play will run at 1pm and 7pm SLT.

Note: The Wizard of Oz is my #1 favorite movie of all time, and it has been since I was six.  :-)

Radio Riel produces this program in conjunction with the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the program now at http://main.radioriel.org.  For more information on the Alexandrian Free Library, current exhibits and the work of Consortium members in general, please visit the Alexandrian Free Library website, or one of their branches in-world.

A very thoughtful post! My advice is to ignore the ignorant and keep doing what you do so well. I can't stream music at work (and I'm not sure I would really want to), but if I did it would be Radio Riel's Steampunk channel. I don't care what it's called - I've listened to several of the artists you mentioned above and enjoyed their music. The label is silly.
