Les Remerciments de Jeudi
From La Mardi Gras to Les Remerciments de Jeudi. (Thursday Thank-Yous)
St Johnians - what an amazing couple of days we had from Sunday through Tuesday!
I have so many people to thank for helping me make Mardi Gras happen.
I am still going on very little sleep, so I am going to apologize in advance if I miss anyone in these acknowledgements. Please know that any omission is due to my exhausted body and brain. If I realize after I post this that I have missed someone, I will come back here and update this post.
Thank you to The Flapperettes for making our Mardi Gras kickoff unique and amazing and full of the spirit of 1916 New Orleans!
The Flapperettes show provided us with a record-breaking moment in St John: the most avatars in a single St John sim since we launched two years ago! We maxxed at 57 avatars.
Thank you to Lelani Carver for creating and placing many of the estate Mardi Gras decorations and for providing textures to all residents. Additional thanks for being the PR and social media queen who sent the information all over the Second Life Universe and beyond!
Thank you to Ali and Kitty for putting up decorations throughout the estate (Kitty) and in St John uptown (Ali). Those were details that I needed and that I was unable to complete on my own.
Ali gets extra thanks for the wonderful fireworks show that she created and ran all day yesterday! She put hours of work into that and the results were amazing.
Thank you to all of the people who created floats for the parade! I received 17 floats and was able to run 16. That is the highest number of floats that I have ever run in all of my years of doing Mardi Gras. They were beautiful and creative and looked damn fabulous going up and down Canal Street!
Massive props to Eve for being the Float Whisperer while I was dealing with a real life issue at the worst possible time. I can say that without a doubt, we would have not had a parade if it were not for Eve's help on the floats.
Thank you to all of the DJs that played on Mardi Gras Day: cadence, Pru, Viola, Rudy, Boone, Edward, Dee and Rock (who tried!). Everyone played killer sets and the crowds loved it. I can't even express how happy I am to be in a position in which I know enough DJs to schedule an all-day event in St John. I have not been able to create and run an event for an estate like this since 2008, before I owned New Toulouse.
Thank you to all of you who offered whatever help you could. I was not always able to take you up on your offers, but you have to know they meant everything to me.
Thank you to all of the revelers that participated in the celebrations yesterday. You brought Mardi Gras to life in our Second Life!
I am so grateful for St John and the fact that we are actually growing. Somehow we are bucking the trend and expanding during a time when so many estates are downsizing or closing. I assumed that by the time I hit my 10th rezday that my time in Second Life would be gradually winding down as my estate shrunk. That's not was has occurred!
Thank you St Johnians. I don't know if you realize it or not, but you are in the midst of making magic...and that is exactly what I wanted for all of you.
With much love and so many thanks,
